“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you” (Jeremiah 1:5a The Message).
God planned every single day of our life. Before we took our first breath, God knew every single event of our life.God’s plans for our life didn’t start the moment we were born. Those plans started before our birth, when the Bible says he shaped us in our mother’s womb. Long before we were conceived by our parents, we were conceived in the mind of God. It is not fate, or chance, or luck, or coincidence that we are breathing at this very moment. Whether our parents were good, bad, or indifferent, God used them because they had the exact DNA needed to create us. God wanted us alive. From the beginning of time, God has had a plan for our life — and he has a purpose he wants us to complete. No one else could have made us to be us. God was intimately involved in our birth. He loved us then and he’ll love us forever. Our parents may have contributed our DNA, but God made us. We were not just one more baby born. God personally planned for our birth.
The way God shaped us reveals how he wants to use us. In other words, if we want to know what we’re supposed to do with our life, we’ve got to look intently and deeply at how God wired us. Our SHAPE (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences). If we want to live a life of purpose and meaning, maximize the strengths God has given us. Find ways to do more of what we do well and less of what we don’t.God created us to be unique, and he wired us for a unique purpose. God reveals our purpose based on how God shaped us. No matter what, we can rest in the truth that God has holy plans for us. He shaped us in advance for those plans. We are God’s masterpiece. He made us for a reason: to fulfill his purposes in this world. We’re alive right now because God wanted us with all of our strengths and weaknesses to be alive.
“You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way . . . You saw my bones being formed as I took shape in my mother’s body. When I was put together there, you saw my body as it was formed. All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old” (Psalm 139:13-16).
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
