Have there ever been times in our life when we have found ourself wondering, ‘How long, O Lord?’ How long will these struggles and disappointments last? How long will I have these difficulties? How long will these health issues persist? How long will I struggle? How long will these intense temptations last? How long will it take me to get over this loss?
‘How long, O Lord’, ‘How long…?’ (Psalm 13:1–2).
There are periods when it appears that God has forgotten us . It seems that he has hidden his face. For some inexplicable reason we don’t sense his presence with us. Every day seems to be a struggle – wrestling with our thoughts. Every day seems to bring sorrow. Every day seems to have pain...a lot of pains...We seem to be losing the battle and the enemy seems to be triumphing over us.
How should we respond in times like these?
Let’s keep praying. It is so important not to give up praying even when God seems far away. Let’s keep trusting even when things do not appear to be going well. Let’s keep on worshipping God inspite of everything we have been through. As we begin to praise and worship God, it brings perspective to our problems. Sometimes, I find it helpful to look back on my life and thank the Lord for bringing me through so many of my own personal struggles, disappointments, and bereavements, and to remember how through it all ‘he has been good to me'. Let’s keep renewing our mind. Only God can change our hearts. We need the help of his Holy Spirit to transform and purify us.
Delay does not negate the promises of God. God does not always change our situations immediately. Sickness and suffering will not finally be eradicated until Jesus returns.
Will God fulfill all His promises to us? Definitely YES!
God is faithful. His promises in the Bible never fails. God gave promised land to the Isarelities not because they are righteous, but because of His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. Joseph knew this, when Joseph was about to die, he made his brothers promise with an oath that they would take his body back with them when they returned to Canaan.
In our difficult time, when we feel that God has forgotten us, trust in God and remember that God knows the best time to act and give.
Let us thank God for His love, kindness and faithfulness. His promises and love never fail. In our difficult time,God will help us to have peace in our hearts. Trust in Him that we will give us the best.
